Virginia Motto --

Sic Semper Tyrannis (Thus Ever to Tyrants)!

The 46th Virginia Infantry, Co. F, C.S.A., Inc., is a non-profit living history organization dedicated to the preservation of our Nation's Civil War heritage through participation in Civil War battle reenactments, living history encampments, and educational seminars. The unit is a family oriented organization encouraging family participation in its activities and welcomes civilian and military impressionists.

Living history can be a rewarding hobby for those amateur and professional historians who desire a deeper incite into the lives of the men who fought the War than can be gained soley out of books, lectures, and round tables. It can be a your "gateway to the past" allowing you to experience first-hand what it was like to shoulder a musket, march in line of battle, drill in the manual of arms of the period, dine over a roaring campfire, etc. It is NOT the intention of living historians to glorify war or belittle the terrible tragedy of the War, but it is their intention to gain a better understanding of the people of the period and their tremendous sacrifices both on the battlefield and on the home front. As living historians we cannot ever fully comprehend the feelings, emotions, and physical labors of our ancestors during the War, but we can at least gain an "impression" of what they experienced daily by "recreating" some of their activities. In the end the hobby also allows us to present to the general public a more enlightened and informed impression of a common soldier in the Army of Northern Virginia or of a Southern civilian from 1861-1865.

Our unit actively seeks and welcomes new recruits and civilian impressionists. In keeping with authenticity, the role of soldiers is reserved for males age 16 and older. Males between the age of 12 and 16 may qualify as musicians in the company if they are accomplished drummers, fifers, or buglers. Men and women are encouraged to participate in civilian roles and are treated equally in the company with the soldiers. All members are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner in keeping with the unit's emphasis on family values. While the unit is primarily based on the Delmarva Peninsula, we welcome new recruits from the Mid-Atlantic region and other areas who desire membership in a unit such as ours. Annual membership dues are $10.00 per individual and $15.00 per family. Our unit is also a member of the 1st Division, A.N.V. (a Confederate living history association) and liability and accidental insurance fees (typically under $20.00/year per individual and under $50.00/year per family of four) are also required by the A.N.V. as part of your membership.
